だに

Not at all/Even Just
Noun + だに

だに is a word meaning “Not at all” or “Even Just”
It is essentially a more literary version of さえ.
It is mostly limited to novels and sometimes news, but is almost always used as part of an expression.
Some of the expressions themselves use fairly old and literary words.

You definitely need to know this word to read novels.

Expressions

• 一顧だにしない
  Not give a thought to at all
  
  
• 微動だにしない
  Not move at all/Not budge at all
  
  
• 一瞥(いちべつ) だにしない
   Not look at all. 
  
  
• 夢にだにしない
  Not even in my dreams
  
  
• 思いだにしない
  Not even think/feel it
  
  
• 今だに/未だに*
  Not even now/Still not
  
  *未だに is probably more correct, a combination of 未だ + に, but it may be written as 今だに; although it is rare.
  At one point 今だに was used for negatives, while 未だに was used for affirmatives.

Examples

• どんなに押しても微動だにしなかった
  No matter how hard I/we pushed it wouldn’t move at all
  
  
• 想像だに怖い
  Scary just thinking about it.
  
  
• やめてから昔の職場を一顧だにしなかった
  Since I quit I haven’t given a single thought to my old workplace.
