もあれば~もある

(Verbs, Nouns, Adjectives and Negatives OK)

AもあればBもある literally means “If there’s A, there’s also B”*
However, the answer to the “If” part is always yes. This effectively makes it mean “And”.
Although I used ある above, any ば form (including negatives) will work. 

This pattern is doesn’t usually mix goodwith bad things, or negatives with positives, unless they are opposites (Mostly adjectives).

  • バスケットボールすれ野球する – Play basketball and baseball
  • よけれ値段いい – The taste and price are good.
  • い家あれい家ある – There are large houses and small houses.
  • 背がい人いれい人いる – There are tall people and short people.
  • 友達会わなけれ家族会わない – He doesn’t see his friends nor family.
